Food Tech

In food tech at school we have been designing a label for the company home brand which make spiral pasta. We have been looking at the nutritional information, the colours used, that it is easy to stack and many other things.
We are studying culture in class so we are making food from different countries e.g. Japan: sushi and India: butter chicken.
We have learnt about the dangers in the kitchen and we have learnt all of the utensils.

Pie Maths!

In maths I have learnt about measuring in pie. I have learnt about the radius, diameter, area and perimeter to measure a circle. Pie is 3.142. Please feel feel free to leave a comment here or share a strategy you use in pie.

Tech

At school in wood tech I have been making spatulas. I have been taught how to draw animated drawings and to be able to shade. I have experienced using many types of saws e.g. coping saws and a band saw. I have also used a machine sander and drills. I used radiata pine which is an exotic tree which originates from America. I had to create a handle which was comfortable and a blade.

Camp!

Please share a camp that you have been on here.

I have got my school camp coming up soon at the Waitakere Ranges. I am staying in a tent for 4 nights and I will be going on a long tramp during the camp. I also have to cook my own food. It will be challenging but hopefully fun. I also will be swimming at a waterfall.

This year I am studying the Waitakere ranges. I am looking at ecosystems, food chains and also the history of them. I am going on camp to the Waitakere ranges so I will find out more when I go there. I am also looking at the wild life like the native bush and the animals.

“With Your Food Basket And My Food Basket The Guests Will Be Fed”

At school we have been looking at this statment and deciding what it ment. We decided that the food baskets could mean help so that it is changed to “with help and my help the event will work out”. This is also explaining teamwork and how some things can’t be done with one person. It is also saying that in a team you put in an equal amount of effort or else it is not known as teamwork. We have also looked at “There is no I in teamwork”, This is on my class blog http://www.room29space.edublogs.org
We decided that it meant that teamwork is “we” instead of “I” because if it was “I” then it would mean that one person was doing all the work.
